overnight work as a research coordinator

So I work as a clinical research coordinator. Do you remember when you see a commercial about a new drug that is out in a market, then it says might cause nausea, vomiting blah blah.. Well we are one of the many institutions or offices or research facilities that gather's those information in tha back of those bottles. Interesting huh? not your average job of hanging up clothes or flipping burgers, bad side to it is sometimes at the end of the day.. your head feels drained I am not sure if that is the correct way to explain it but this kind of work requires alot of thinking.. duhh thats why they call it research.. research your answers, find your own answers.. no one is gonna help you but yourself.. connect the dots.. yeap like investigator stuff.. hey i did not go to school for this.. gotta learn it on ur own. Some people have a knack for it.. some don't, I guess in this field if your not booksmart, and you do not think outside the box.. you wont last.. better find another career.

Anyway this is my first time blogging.. I am not sure if I am doing it right.. but please do correct me if I am not.. anyway (again) why am i doing this now? hmmm.. iono maybe cus this part of my work where i stay over night at a hotel drawing a patient's blood (research procedures) so yea I draw blood like every 2 hrs till 9am tommorow.. In case your wondering i started at 9pm. So now im killing time.. killing boredom, not the usual tv.. but yea.. first time for everything.. If I find something else to write about .. peace

Iono but that fancy title (jobwise) sounds more like Quality control. But that just me, i just simplify the obvious. And i agree with my raver girl Jaqui.

lol im not american so I dont really get this "hatin on me" stuff that you all talk about. just makes me think you're obsessed with yourself cause really i couldnt give 2 shits.

My point was that you're trynna sound intelligent with your blog but your picture makes you look stupid. I tried to say it nicely but you didnt get it, whatever.

(grins), well, for mentally challenging, that sounds interesting, for me and investigative work, it was back when I was working at this chemical gas company, doing corrective action, basically take in a customer's complaint and look into it and figure out the cause of it (some cases, the root cause of the issue is pretty interesting), then come up with a way to resolve the issue (corrective action, short-term resolution), and see about coming up with a preventive action (long-term resolution).

For the blogging and being bored thing, it's cool, other than that, work is work, doesn't matter what you do, various work-related things apply to all fields of industry, especially sense of professionalism, health & safety, and corrective action, so you could make a job at McD's a bit more mentally challenging if you step outside of complacency...

overall much props for the blog!

1) Thanks for that info
2) You are so easy to judge from the picture I have, to say alot about me. (don't want to think that you are just simply hating on me.)
3) Nobody ESP. me say flipping burgers is a shitty job.. I have nothing against that job because that is a legit job, (get the facts straight no offense) Anyway all I was trying to emphasize is that working for fastfoods is not as mentally challenging as is compared to being in a research field.

1) theres no RIGHT or WRONG way to blog.
2) your picture makes you seem less intelligent than you may or may not be.
3) I would call flipping burgers a shit job, not a regular job, but thats just me.

If you were to say something specifically about how a certain study is.. all employees sign a confidentiality agreement but if you were just to explain the process of your work, then I dont think you are violating anything. :)

Interesting! Being a nerd myself, was wondering what is the research study? or are you not allowed to say cause you had to sign some non-disclosure clause?

not that i know of.. because usually our subject's are hemodialysis patients and since they are have ESRD they already are due to alot of complications because of having this.. most of the times when do they go to the hospital we tick out the option to the reports of not being related since they already have a history of this

Interesting stuff. I'm not in the pharmaceutical field but rather the nutritional supplement side which is a bit different. Did any of the test subjects ever encounter any weird adverse side effects from any the medication?

no certifications here.. you get trained.. they show you once..
then your own.. if in a fews you still don't get it? Or still be making mistakes? Your out..

09/06/2009 00:06:43

if your not scared of blood and sticking people,
if you are the type to enjoy learning and finding out answers on your own..
and if you are the type that likes to be mentally challenged.. then yes this is your field

09/06/2009 00:04:03

nah.. it's extra money. It's not part of my 40 hrs a week

09/05/2009 04:09:20

Are those your regular hours? What are your certifications?
