It's a different time. Rap is now the microwaved music ringtone rapper. Fuck bitches, get money, hump em, dump em, hit quit, all that shit, retard mentality. See, real hip hop lived from 1987-1995. This was a time when words sounded good on paper, mc's on the mic had a thing called "talent", and the bitches you see today would have gotten chewed up on stage. It's not simply maturity, hip-hop used to be intellectual too.

So go ahead and crank that bullshit. Music is not music today. MTV says themselves, HD MTV, the best music you've ever seen. Last I checked music went into your ears, not your eyes.

Grow out of rap? If that's the case, you never loved it in the first place.

kidkardona is on point about modern rap. Today's rap & hip-hop caters to the ADD listener. Albums are full of filler songs since artists focus more on the radio hit, the club banger, and the singles rather than make an album that reflects your growth as an artist or perhaps tell a story of your personal experiences.

I'm digging the retro/electro movement of hip-hop from acts like The Cool Kids, Mic Terror, Kidz In The Hall, & Mickey Factz. They're combining the bread & butter lyricism of the late 80s-early 90s w/ simple "boom-boom-clap" beats & bringing the fun back in hip-hop w/out sacrificing content too much. I'm afraid they're pigeonholing themselves in that niche though but we're going to have to see what happens to that movement in the next couple years.

i like this question. for me, rap isn't the same feeling nor groove than what it was 15 years ago. back then, majority of rap songs were crazy funky lyrics. songs now-a-days are mostly sampled just so they can bring back that old feelings from the original.

old school rap~

new school rap~

old school rap was mad crazy rhymes that made you think. while new school rap talk about ipods, money, clubs, ect.,. don't get me wrong, some of the new stuff are good. to me though, it just not the same flavor.

i know ppl like that....when they changed their like in music, they changed they way they present themselves, like clothing, they way they talk, who they chill with.

ive always listened to hip hop n ive searched hip hop from the old school to the new shit. dont get me wrong, i think those ppl that change are fake n dont know who they are, i lose respect for ppl like that.

ive always known who i am, n i love hip hop. but its not all i listen to, ill change it up to a lil rock maybe some reggae n just a tad bit of country.

i dont think ppl should change or drop what they listen to, but add on to it. just like life, you take away the bad n add to the good.

I think people get tired of certain type of rap music. I know I was a die hard Juelz, 50 and Franchize Boys fan but I swithced it up cause I got tired of the topics and the beats. Now it's Little Brother, Lupe and K'naan for me
